Prof Alan M. MacEachren is a tenured professor in the Department of Geography, School of Earth Sciences, Pennsylvania State University, and director of GeoVista Center. His main research direction is geographical visualization; Exploratory spatio-temporal data analysis; Geographical cooperation; Spatial and environmental cognition, etc.
Since 1992, Alan has been focusing on the representation and visualization of geographic information data. He has linked cartography, information visualization, semiotics and perception. Alan is also committed to studying the application of GIS in human geography. Many of his achievements in GeoVista Center have been applied to environmental engineering planning and risk assessment.
