Prof Steven Jr Hop serves as a visiting professor at the Institute of Data, Systems and Society (IDSS) of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He received his Ph.D. in electrical and computer engineering from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in Vancouver, Canada in 2013. He is a postdoctoral researcher at Toyota Institute of Technology (TTIC) in Chicago, which is a charitable academic computer science research institute located on the campus of the University of Chicago.
He won many famous research awards, including the National Science Foundation Career Award in 2018, Arnold O. Beckman Award in UIUC in 2018, ICSA Outstanding Young Researcher Award in 2019, Associate Research Fellow in UIUC Advanced Research Center in 2020-2021, and Simons Foundation Mathematics Scholarship in 2020-2021.
